Call for Papers

Thematic Issue: Masculinity in the 21st Century

Guest Editor: Elwood D. Watson, East Tennessee State University

Over the better part of the past two decades, masculinity is a subject that has ignited considerable interest among journalists, bloggers, researchers, academics and the the mass public. There has been no shortage of articles exploring men's lives. Generation X is the demographic group of Americans born from 1965-1979. This is a unique generation on many levels with undoubtedly provocative stories and insights to share with others. Men, like women, are very diverse and pluralistic in regards to our ethnic makeup, life experiences, political affiliations, social values, religious persuasions, sexual identity, educational levels and other factors.

This issue of Interactions is dedicated to examining all the various experiences, facts, fictions, stereotypes, myths, cultural identity, etc., associated with contemporary manhood in the 21st Century. Articles could address religion, race, divorce, sexual identity, masculinity, work, family life, consumerism, marriage, popular culture, education, relationships, gender, 21st century perceptions of Generation X, baby boomers, millennials, economics, mental health, disabilities as well as other related topics.

Submissions are to be 6000 to 8000 words in length, are to be original scholarly manuscripts formatted according to Harvard Style guidelines (full guide available at http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/MediaManager/File/Intellect%20style%20guide.pdf ) Endnotes should appear at the end of the article, and works cited listed in alphabetical, then chronological order in a separate 'References' section, also at the end of the article. Submissions should be sent in Microsoft Word .doc/.docx format ONLY via e-mail attachments to the the guest editor, Elwood D. Watson, at (watsone /at/ etsu.edu) All inquiries should also be addressed to Professor Watson at (watsone /at/ etsu.edu) or by dialling +1 (423) 439 8575.

The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2015, and the issue is scheduled for publication in Spring 2016.

It is our intention to encourage the development of the widest possible scholarly community, both in terms of geographical location and intellectual scope and we will publish leading articles from both established scholars and those at the beginning of their careers.
