Summer course: International Journalism in a digital environment, July
2015 – Madrid
The International Relations Section of Communications Faculty
(Complutense University, Madrid) will offer a summer course on
“International Journalism in a digital environment” during the month of
July. We will try to teach the new basics of foreign reporting in a
World where information spreads in the social networks and is not an
exclusive privilege of an elitist tribe anymore. The aim is to bring
International Relations as close as possible to the reality of the
communication labor market and to its newest professional profiles, so
there will be a mixture of theory sessions and practical workshops that
can be of interest to students of Journalism –or journalists- thinking
about working/freelancing abroad. Among other topics, we will see: state
and non state actors in International Relations, the new role of
agencies, international legal protection for the freelances, finding
information in social networks, getting tips on security and
cibersecurity, verificating user generated content, keeping accuracy on
top of priorities, data-journalism in cross-border investigations, etc.
Professors are among the most well known in the field of International
Relations in Spain, and guest correspondents are professionals highly
celebrated by international colleagues and very much renowned in the
social networks. The language of the sessions will be Spanish-only.
