[ecrea] University of Sussex - School of Media, Film and Music: Lectuer 7/8 and Teaching Fellow posts

The School of Media, Film and Music wishes to make a number of new
appointments to strengthen its expanding provision. We offer a
stimulating, research-focused environment with a strong commitment to
delivering the highest standard of teaching and learning. Candidates
must be able to demonstrate an outstanding ability in research and/or
teaching appropriate to the level of appointment, and an aptitude for
both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Salary ranges:
Grade 7 starting at £30,728 and rising to £36,661 per annum
Grade 7 Lecturers (A) starting at £33,562 and rising to £36,661 per annum
Grade 8 Lecturers (B) starting at £37,756 rising to £45,053 per annum
All salaries pro rata for part time, it is normal to appoint at the
first point of the salary scale
Expected start date for all posts: 01 September 2014 (unless specified
otherwise)
Ref 548: Lecturer in Film Studies (Grade 7 or 8) Full time, Permanent
We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of film studies, but
particularly those with strengths in American cinema, past and present,
and in genre. An interest in television study would also be
advantageous, for future curriculum developments.
Ref 549: Teaching Fellow in Film Studies (Grade 7) Full time, one year
fixed term. Expected start date 01 August 2014
Applicants should have knowledge and understanding of diverse approaches
to the study of film and cinema, but we would especially welcome
expertise in one or more of the following: film theory, representations
of gender and sexuality in film, European cinema, global cinemas.
Ref 550: Lecturer in Media and Communication (Grade 7 or 8) Full time,
Permanent
Applicants should be able to teach in specialist areas of media
institutions, television, television journalism and new media as well
as contribute to core teaching in media and communication studies.
Ref 551: Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies (Grade 7) Full time,
three year fixed term
Applicants should be able to teach and develop new courses in the
field of cultural studies. An ability to teach on and develop
undergraduate and post-graduate modules around the themes of
everyday life is also desirable.
Ref 552: Teaching Fellow in Media and Communication (Grade 7) Full time,
one year fixed term
Applicants should be able to contribute teaching into a range of
courses, including 1st and 2nd year core courses on the BA in Media
and Communications degree programme.
Ref 553: Teaching Fellow: Journalism (Grade 7) Part time 0.5 fte, Permanent
Applicants should be able to contribute to core modules on the new BA in
Journalism, as well as to MA Journalism courses. They will possess a
higher degree in a relevant area or will have equivalent scholarly or
relevant professional activity. You will have recent experience of
professional working in news Journalism environments and teaching
experience at least to undergraduate level.
Ref 554: Teaching Fellow: Journalism (Grade 7) two x Part time 0.2 fte
posts, three year fixed term
Applicants should have expertise in: 1. print and online news writing or
2. television and video news making. They will have recent experience of
professional working in news Journalism environments and some teaching
experience at least to undergraduate level.
Ref 555: Teaching Fellow: Video Production (Grade 7) Full time, Permanent
Applicants should have expertise in Video Production across fiction and
documentary modes of production, including script writing. They should
possess a higher degree in a relevant area or equivalent scholarly or
relevant professional activity. They will have experience of working in
relevant professional environments and teaching experience at least to
undergraduate level.
