Research Fellows - Participation, Power and Social Change (349)
We are seeking two or more Fellows to join the Participation, Power and Social Change Team <<http://www.ids.ac.uk/index.cfm>http://www.ids.ac.uk/index.cfm objectid=173CCF55-5056-8171-7B7167F286A8A72B> .

The successful candidates for the Fellow positions will be innovative, resourceful researchers with experience of participatory and action-oriented modes of research and engagement, a strong publication record and experience in generating and managing research funding. The PPSC Team currently works on a wide diversity of areas of interest with a common focus on issues of participation, power and social change - participatory governance, citizenship, social movements, women's empowerment, sexuality and development, participatory communication and citizens' media, complexity, learning and capacity development, reflective practice, international aid, crime and violence, and the impact of the financial crisis. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the PPSC's research, teaching and communications work in relation to these or other areas of interest.

Candidates should be fluent in written and spoken English. Prior experience (research, policy and/or practice) is also an essential requirement as well as a commitment to participatory values and non-hierarchical team working.

Candidates should normally have a PhD in a relevant discipline (although exceptionally, comparable research and practical experience may be taken as a substitute). They should have an excellent research and publication record with experience and interest in bridging research with practice and policy. A demonstrated capacity to work in a multidisciplinary team and with partners from a wide range of countries will also be valued, as will language abilities beyond English. A high value will be placed on candidate's interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and their capacity to apply these in diverse participatory processes. Applications from those with a strong background in postgraduate teaching and convening will be particularly welcome.
