THE FRAGMENTED REALITY
Trends of media discourse
Abstract:
This number of Sphera Publica approaches, from
different perspectives, contemporary
storytelling changes in mass media. The aim is
to deepen into the analysis of stories that
presents today more fragmented than ever.
Although it is not necessary to remember it, the
process called "postmodern era" is present in
this situation to underline the crisis of the
big statements and the lack of accepted laws by the citizenship.
This monographic number includes articles that
analyze the crisis of speech. Also, study the
effects in different media manifestations of the
culture of spectacle, close to other studies
that raise possible alternatives to the apparent
chaos. Within these processes, the innovation in
the narrative borders that the Web has supposed
must be included. The intimate but public
diaries (blogs), the collective and stories with
hipertext, or the micronarratives, are only some
of these tensions still not fully solved in
Internet, but that are giving place to a new
field of experimentation and innovation.
Some of the questions that have used as impulse
to the researches are the following ones: what
transformations has provoked the development of
culture of the spectacle in the media speech?
How has it influenced the journalistic genres in
the crisis of the big statements and the
preference to the intimacy? What about the new
role of identity? How does it affect the
fragmentation inherent in Internet to the
construction of the journalistic storytelling?
Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to
submit on or before December 7, 2009, a final
draft of the proposed article. Authors of
accepted proposals will be notified by December
18, 2009, about the status of their proposals
and sent chapter reviews. Final articles are
expected to be submitted by January 15, 2010.
All submitted articles will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis.
