[ecrea] ECA Panel Seeks A Fourth Person
Wed Sep 30 22:56:34 GMT 2009
Greetings:
For anyone watching the communication surrounding President Obama's
administration, 2009 has certainly been a fascinating interaction of
a lot of factors and many of these seemed to come together as the
President was preparing to deliver his address to school children. I
am putting together a panel for the 2010 Eastern Communication
Association conference addressing this controversy. Currently, we
have scholars from various institutions speaking on:
-The influence of race
-A historical perspective on the presidential school speech reactions
-The media's construction of the controversy
And we had considered that our fourth might offer a perspective on
how special interest groups have contributed to the backlash;
however we are also open to another perspective that would
complement this discussion. If you are interested, please email me.
I am looking to fill the spot first, but also would like abstracts
(along with your institutional and contact information) by October 5.
Best Regards,
Audra Diers
