Doctoral Student positions in Media and Communication Studies
at Karlstad University
Deadline for application: 20 May, 2009
The Faculty of Economic Sciences, Communication
and IT at Karlstad University now announces two
positions as Ph.D. doctoral students in Media and Communication Studies.
There are three prioritised research areas at the department:
- Global Media Studies
- Digital Media and Cultural Circulation
- Communication, Citizenship and Social Change.

Research education includes 240 ECTS credit
points, inclusive dissertation. The doctoral
student is expected to perform a certain amount
of department work, for instance teaching. These
duties may not constitute more than 20 % of the
full work time. The doctoral student is expected
to be involved in the daily work at the
department. The position is limited to 4 years,
but can be prolonged for up to one more year.
Prerequisites:
Qualified for this position are candidates with a
University degree of 240 ECTS, from which at
least 60 ECTS were awarded for courses at
advanced level and/or have a Master's degree in Media Studies, or equivalent.
Admission:
On the basis of individual assessment of the
candidates' abilities to successfully complete
the research education. The earliest date for
filling the position is the September 1st 2009.
