Journalism in Europe: Who Needs Regulation?

This is a one day conference convened by the Communication and Society Research Centre, University of Minho, Portugal. This conference aims to bring together different perspectives on profound changes taking place in journalism today and the respective developing regulatory mechanisms. Considering the swift transformations taking place in the field, this conference intends to contribute to a more complex overview of the internal and external regulatory tools which might have an impact on the safeguarding of journalism as a socially significant field. The challenges posed by digitalization of content, the proliferation of platforms and the exponential increase of participants in the digital public sphere will be addressed.
Regulatory entities, academics, journalists, media executives, students, and citizens interested in media regulatory issues are welcome.  Entrance is free.
