+++ Media, Information and Communications Policy within Masters Program in Public Policy +++

Dear Colleagues,   							

We are writing you to briefly inform you about opportunities for graduate studies in the field of media and communications policy at Central European University (CEU, http://www.ceu.hu/home). As you probably know, CEU is a unique graduate research university based in Budapest, Hungary. We have accreditation both in the United Sates and in Hungary, and the language of instruction is English. The student-faculty ration is exceptionally good, so we give close attention to the development of our students.

The Department of Public Policy offers a one-year MA in Public Policy with a possibility to specialize in the field of Media, Information and Communications Policy (http://www.ceu.hu/web/dpp/studies/streams/media).
The course portfolio of this stream covers a wide range of subjects:
-  Fundamentals of media and communications policy
-  Global broadcasting and telecommunications law
-  Enabling policies for freedom of the media
-  Intellectual property protection in cyberspace
-  Information privacy protection
-  Global media governance and civil society
-  Further cross-listed courses are available ( e.g. Green politics and the media, Nationalism and the media, Media and democracy)
Courses in the field of Media, Information and Communication Policy are open also to visiting students.

Besides, CEU Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS, http://www.cmcs.ceu.hu/) provides further academic synergies to students bringing in experts and distinguished scholars for guest lecturers, workshops and conferences in the field.

CEU is committed to sustaining a geographically diverse and multicultural student body. To further this goal, CEU offers substantial financial aid for students from all over the world.

Admission and deadlines: 
January 26, 2009: First application deadline for applicants to the one-year Masters Program in Public Policy of the Department of Public Policy, who wish to be considered for one of the CEU fellowship or tuition waiver packages or one of the Magyar Telekom (MT) scholarships
March 16, 2009: Second application deadline. By this date applicants must submit complete application packages including language test scores.
