[Commlist] New book: Women's Work in Post-war Italy: An Oral and Filmic History

Fri Dec 08 09:08:36 GMT 2023

Intellect is pleased to share that /Women's Work in Post-war Italy: An Oral and Filmic History <https://www.intellectbooks.com/womens-work-in-post-war-italy>/, by Flora Derounian, is out in hardback!

This book investigates women's work in Italy between 1945 and 1965 using films, original oral history interviews, and archival sources. It focuses on three sectors: agriculture (rice weeders), fashion (seamstresses), and religious work (nuns) and compares women’s own words with their representation in film. The book is interested in how women’s work was viewed by society and by women workers themselves.

Part of Intellect's Trajectories of Italian Cinema and Media <https://www.intellectbooks.com/trajectories-of-italian-cinema-and-media> series.
