/Through a close reading of oral history data, this paper demonstrates how far-right ideas circulate through discursive discourses that simultaneously conceal and disclose in gaming space. Henry Urbach’s theory of the closet and queer disclosure will facilitate this, providing a framework in which we can observe how the far-right exists within gaming space whilst obscuring its proximity through fantastical distance and absence./

/This article studies expressions of orientalism and white supremacy through analyses of action-adventure games. It will discuss the historical bias of the adventure genre and its connection with orientalism and white supremacy, followed by framing them in a digital games context./

/Although the game was considered a failure by many, subsequent expansions of the game have been popular. This essay probes at least one reflective reason for the game’s endurance: the unique sense of place that it provides for players foraging, crafting, and exploring the West Virginia backcountry./
