This conference seeks to explore the critical questions for the heritage
sector today from various disciplinary perspectives to consider issues
of preservation, but also contemporary creative and cultural practices.
Disciplines of interest include:
Fine Art Applied Arts
Media Studies
Design
Architecture
Cultural Studies
Landscape design…. and more.
Held at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Maritime Greenwich, home of
the Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and a variety of major arts
and cultural events annually, this conference is interested in how
contemporary art practices coexist with cultural traditions and places
of history.
Using the World Heritage Site as its starting point then, the conference
seeks to explore critical questions for the arts, cultural and heritage
sectors. Seeking to position the site, its difficulties and successes in
a global contemporary context, the conference welcomes international
case studies that explore the varied and complex components of
contemporary creative practice and notions of the past.
