Fri May 03 11:08:28 GMT 2024

*Annual Conference International and Intercultural Communication Division of the German Communication Association (DGPuK) - 14 - 15 November 2024 | Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg*

We are excited to invite you to contribute to the Annual Conference of the International and Intercultural Communication Division of the German Communication Association (DGPuK), taking place on 14 and 15 November 2024, at PLUS, themed: "Overcoming the Divides? Towards Global Inclusivity Communication Studies in Times of Uncertainty."

In times of unprecedented challenges, communication scholars need to foster a more profound understanding of what global inclusivity in their discipline means. Calls for de-westernizing or decentering the discipline are not new: imbalances in knowledge production are well documented, in structural tangible aspects as well as intangible aspects of power and capital. Communication studies are still Western-centric and need to break free from the epistemic confines of one-sided normativity. The Annual Conference in Salzburg seeks to push global inclusivity in multicultural and globalized environments by cultivating scholarship that helps individuals respect and appreciate the many facets of diversity.

We are particularly excited to announce the PhD workshop on 14 November, exclusively tailored for doctoral students. This workshop will provide an invaluable opportunity for early-career scholars to share their work-in-progress with established mentors. We encourage PhD students at all stages of their research to participate and benefit from the insightful feedback provided by seasoned scholars.

Kindly submit your paper contributions for a 20-minute presentation in a Word file, no longer than 1200 words, excluding references, connecting the submission to one of the specific themes or indicating if it is intended for the PhD workshop by 20 May 2024 (00:00 CET) to (DGPuK-Salzburg /at/ plus.ac.at)
