[Commlist] Call - II International Conference Literary and Film Tourism

II International Conference on Literary & Film Tourism. "Routes, sustainability and digital media"

The School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (Univ. of the
Algarve, Portugal), the CETT Barcelona School of Tourism,
Hospitality and Gastronomy (Univ. of Barcelona, Spain), the Univ. of
Caxias do Sul (Brazil), and the Univ. of Groningen (The Netherlands)
invite researchers, professionals, and students to submit their research
on the following thematic lines:

1. Route/Trail Design and Planning: Discuss the principles and best
practices for designing sustainable literary/film routes and trails,
considering environmental impact, user experience, and accessibility.
Examine the research involved in identifying significant literary/film
sites and integrating them into a cohesive route or trail. Explore the
choice of destinations and the planning of routes/trails based on
literary/film themes or connections to specific authors and works.

2. Community Engagement and Stakeholder Collaboration: Share
successful examples of collaborative approaches involving local
communities and other stakeholders in planning and managing routes
and trails. Explore the collaboration of route planners and tour guides
with local communities, libraries, museums, and literary/film
organisations to develop routes and trails. Discuss the importance of
community involvement in preserving cultural heritage.

3. Outdoor Recreation and Literary/Film Tourism: Examine the
role of literary/film routes and trails in promoting outdoor recreation
and these niches of cultural tourism and discuss strategies to promote
destinations considering sustainability and conservation. Analyse
innovative ways to engage tour participants through interactive
experiences, such as role-playing, reenactments, or themed activities
inspired by literary/film settings or characters.

4. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Address issues related to making
trails accessible to people of all abilities and backgrounds and discuss
ways to ensure inclusivity and diversity in trail usage.

5. Technology and Innovation: Explore the latest advancements in
route/trail technology, such as GPS mapping, mobile apps, trail
monitoring systems, and sustainable construction materials. Discuss how
multimedia resources (e.g., audio recordings, video clips, augmented
reality, digital maps) can enhance the tourist experience and promote
literary culture, local culture and environmental conservation.

6. Case Studies and Success Stories: Showcase successful literary or
film trail projects, highlighting innovative approaches to sustainability,
community engagement, and trail management. Examine current trends
in literary and film tourism regarding routes and trails and highlight
examples of destinations that have implemented routes and have
effectively used literary heritage and films to attract visitors.

7. Cultural and Historical Perspectives: Explore the cultural and
historical significance of routes and trails and discuss ways to preserve
and celebrate literary and natural heritage while ensuring sustainability.
Explore cultural sensitivity, authenticity, and the responsible portrayal of
historical events and figures.

8. The tour guide's experience: Discuss how tour guides interpret
literary works to create engaging and informative tours. Examine the art
of storytelling in literary tours and film tours. Discuss techniques for
captivating audiences through narrative, dialogue, and dramatic
presentation while staying true to the featured literary works.

Submissions: A 300-word abstract (title, objectives, methodology,
results, conclusions, a list of ten references) with the authors’ names and

by 15 July 2024.

Panel proposals: Each panel will consist of 4 up to 6 communications
on a common topic. The panel coordinator should send a document with
the title of the panel, a 500-word abstract, a list of ten references, and the
names and affiliations of the panellists. Each panellist must register
individually.
