following Call for Papers for a Special Issue in the Mobile Media &
Communication Journal
CfP: Mobile communication and later life: from theories to empirical
frescoes

Guest editors: Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol & Sakari Taipale.
**Overview**
The intersection of mobile communication studies and aging studies has
become a crucial area of investigation, presenting a dynamic landscape
for research. This Special Issue aims to explore the role of mobile
communication in later life from both theoretical and empirical
perspectives, addressing the diverse dimensions and implications of this
phenomenon in contemporary societies.

- Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 Feb 2024
- Acceptance/Rejection Feedback: 01 April 2024
- Full Paper Submission Deadline: 30 September 2024
- Peer Reviews Completed/Resubmissions: March 2025
- Final Acceptance: 15 September 2025
**Submission Guidelines**
Authors are requested to submit an extended abstract of 500 words
(including references) that clearly states the paper's main argument,
theoretical and empirical starting points, contribution, and takeaway.
Abstracts, along with short biographies for each author (approx. 200
words), should be emailed to laterlife.mobcomm (at) gmail (dot) com by
February 15, 2024. Please include the names, titles, and contact
information for 2-3 suggested reviewers. Positively reviewed abstracts
will be invited to submit full articles through http://mmc.sagepub.com

Submissions should be original, unpublished works and will undergo a
blind peer-review process following the guidelines for Mobile Media &
Communication. Manuscripts must conform to the journal's guidelines.
No payment from the authors will be required.
**ECREA 2024, "Aging & Communication Studies" temporary working group**
The new temporary working group on Aging & Communication Studies
welcomes contributions for the ECREA 2024 conference in Ljubljana.
Abstracts submitted to ECREA 2024 can be adapted to this CfP.
We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions to this Special
Issue, contributing to the advancement of our understanding of mobile
communication in later life.
