The WoCiCo 2023 invites you to send abstracts on research on Japanese
films, live-action films or animated films (anime), fiction or
documentaries, on any aspect of films and filmmaking. It is an
excellent platform for researchers, teachers, professionals, as well as
Doctoral and Master’s Degree students to present, share, discuss and
publish their research work.

The II World Cinema International Conference will be held on 28 and 29
September 2023, at Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), one of the
most prestigious universities in Spain and the Hispanic world. It is
organized by the research group GECA (Gender, Aesthetics, and
Audiovisual Culture).
The main goal of this conference is to be an international space for
academic discussions on cinemas from different parts of the world, as
well as on similar narrative forms as television series.
This conference is directed to researchers, professors, professionals,
and Ph.D. and master’s degree students who are interested in
communicating and sharing their contributions to the study of cinema.
It is open to any research approaches, qualitative or quantitative;
focused on content or form; or those that address methodological questions.
This edition is dedicated to the Cinema of Japan, one of the most
relevant film industries in the world, in both live-action and animated
films (anime), fiction and documentaries, and any aspects related to
Japanese cinema (filmmaking, cinematography, editing, music, promotion,
etc.) Topics related to other cinemas will be considered for a
miscellaneous panel.

Each proposal must include:
* Title
* Abstract (max. 250 words)
* Keywords (at least, 3 keywords)
* Proposals must be related to the topic of this edition: Japanese
cinema. Both live-action, and animated films, fiction or
documentaries, or any topic related to Japanese cinema. They should
be sent in English.
Public notification of results: 31 August 2023
Once accepted by the scientific committee of the Conference, to finish
the registration process, authors must make a payment of 30 euros.
Payment is made by each author, not by communication.
Presentations will not be published until the payment has been made by
all the authors who sign the communication.

All communications will be presented online, with the videoconference
tools provided by Complutense University of Madrid. Duration of
presentations: 15 minutes.
*Publication*
Presenters may be considered to publish their communication as a chapter
of a digital book published by Fragua (SPI (Scholarly Publishers

before publication. Only related texts related to Japanese cinema will
be considered to publish as a chapter in the book, as this one will be
on Japanese cinema.
Presenters whose communications address methodological questions related
to Japanese Cinema, may publish the presentation in the journal
Communication & Methods (Latindex, Dialnet, WorldCat)

by the journal reviewers.
