[Commlist] cfp: Futures of Chinese Cinemas Conference

Wed Mar 29 04:02:49 GMT 2023

Futures of Chinese Cinemas

University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), May 19 & 20, 2023
Conference Description
This conference examines the current state of Chinese film culture, production, and scholarship and its impact on world cinemas in the 21st century. Growing from two previous film conferences held at UNNC that examined Chinese cinemas ('100 Years of Chinese Film & Screen' in 2021, and 'Chinese Film Aesthetics' in 2022), this conference shifts its focus to examining the contemporary landscape of Chinese film and Chinese film scholarship, including emerging developments, movements, and other phenomena.

It will be a hybrid conference, with both in-person and online presentations. Due to the current travel situation, we anticipate that people from outside China will probably be unable to attend in-person.

Submission Guidelines

Proposals for 15 minute presentations should be submitted using the following form by midnight (China Standard Time), Sunday 2 April - https://forms.office.com/r/smFGMiTuiZ

Proposals should include a 150-word abstract and a (max.) 50-word biography. If you encounter problems with the form, please send your proposal to (Corey.Schultz /at/ nottingham.edu.cn)

A full programme and abstracts will be available near the time of the conference. If travel restrictions change, the conference may have to be postponed or cancelled. For in-person attendees, there will be a fee of 100 RMB to cover coffee/tea breaks and meals. For further information, please see: https://www.nottingham.edu.cn/en/humanities-and-social-sciences/schools-and-department/international-communications/research/futures-of-chinese-cinemas.aspx

For questions, please contact (Corey.Schultz /at/ nottingham.edu.cn).
