[ecrea] cfp - Identity and difference in Latin American song

Fri Aug 24 10:12:18 GMT 2018

*CFP - Identity and difference in Latin American song *

We invite Brazilian and foreign masters and / or doctors to submit unpublished articles for the composition of the e-book /Identity and difference in Latin American song/ (tentative title), scheduled to be released in April / 2019 by FFLCH (University of São Paulo - USP).

The book intends to discuss regional categorizations (or supposed categorizations) in Latin American popular music, especially that of South American origin. Based on the assumption that there is a dominant identity, usually associated with the norm, as opposed to the difference, usually associated with the peripheral, we search for articles that try to understand how the concepts of identity and difference may be appropriate to operate in popular music. Therefore, as far as Latin American popular music is concerned, issues such as relativization of contemporary identities, relations of social and territorial affiliations, cultural reprocessing, and (re)creation of contemporary identities are of interest to the content of the book. However, it is opportune to inform that any subject involving discussions on identity and / or difference in the field of Latin American popular music is welcome.

The book will be non-profit and will be published in an e-book format with free download available at the USP Open Book Portal (http://www.livrosabertos.sibi.usp.br/portaldelivrosUSP). The book will have ISBN-e and DOI (both issued by FFLCH / USP).

The coordination and editing of the book will be under the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Júlio César Suzuki (FFLCH and PROLAM / USP) and Dr. Valterlei Borges de Araújo (postdoctoral fellow at PROLAM / USP) + editorial committee.
