[ecrea] CFP: EuroNoize
Thu Aug 23 10:23:24 GMT 2018
Euronoize
21st September 2018, 09:30 - 18:00, University of Reading, UK
https://euronoize.eu/
The EuroNoize conference explores the history and existing practices of
the DiY music scene in Europe and beyond, evaluating this particular
form of artistic production alongside other contemporary aesthetic
modes. The conference is part of a project that considers the historical
and current relationship of DiY music to art education (the art band
emerging from art school) and the social, economic and cultural
structures that shape this field in the present. It interrogates the
relationship between a global (predominantly Anglo-Saxon) culture
industry and localised, independent nodes of production and the meaning
(and sound) of cultural identity in an age of transnational mobility.
Starting with this one-day conference, EuroNoize aims to generate a
theoretical discussion around this artistic and musical genre that is
rarely given enough attention in art criticism.
Speakers include: Philip Auslander, Bryan Biggs, Chris Bohn, Paula
Guerra, Sarah Lowndes, Stephanie Phillips, Simon Reynolds and Matt Worley.
EuroNoize is a collaboration between the University of Reading,
Kunsthall Oslo and A.R.E. Prague and funded by the European Commission.
