International Media Literacy Seminar for Journalists
in Bratislava, Slovakia

'New Media Literacy for Journalists' is the theme of a two-day International Seminar being co-organised by the Slovak section of the Association of European Journalists in Bratislava on May 29-30, 2014 to mark this year's Press Freedom Day.

The debate will focus on the changing landscape of media freedom, with the Slovak School of Communication and Media as the main hosts. The programme includes a panel on International Law and Media, focusing on controversial recent judgements of European courts and asking if these might herald an end to the age of free Internet use.

The gathering will also investigate issues surrounding terrorism and the news agenda. The programme will then examine Online tools for Journalists, with special attention to Social Media for Journalists, New Media Ethics, Broadcasting YouTube Videos - Challenges and Opportunities, and Twitter for Journalists. And another session onInvestigative Journalism in the Internet Era will look into Blogs and Investigative Journalists, Curator Journalism, Online Corporate Investigation - Aspects and Application and How to deal with Classified Sources? The presenters will be from Bulgaria, Finnland, Malta, Romania, Slovakia and United Kingdom
