CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Thinking with Food: An Ideas Exchange
Wednesday 28th September 2011, 9.00am-4.30pm, University of Leicester
'Thinking with Food: An Ideas Exchange' is a one day event focused on 
food and media. This will offer academic researchers, professional 
practitioners and postgraduate students an opportunity to engage 
critically and creatively with the cultural production of food. The 
event will be interactive; all participants will contribute to, engage 
with and even design research on the representation and mediation of food.
This event is organized by the Cultural Production & Consumption 
Research Group, Department of Media & Communication, University of 
Leicester.
Proposed Programme:
* Welcome and Introduction
* Session 1: Food in the Media (research papers examining how food is 
represented in the media, and discussion)
* Session 2: Food and Value (hands-on exploration and critical 
reflection on how food is discursively framed as valuable)
* Lunch (provided)
* Session 3: The Mediation of Food (research papers examining the 
mediation of food, and discussion)
* Roundtable Reflection (a review of the key ideas of the day, to carry 
forward in Session 4)
* Session 4: Designing Research (a collaborative session designing a 
potential research project on a local food and drink festival)
* Concluding Remarks
