The deadline for paper submissions to the 9th World Media Economics and
Management Conference is December 1, 2009. Full papers with a title
abstract (250 words) are required. Papers should be a maximum of 25
pages plus tables, pictures, references, and/or appendix. The title page
should include the paper title, author(s), university(ies), e-mail
address(es), postal address(es), and telephone number (s). If multiple
authors are involved, one should be designated to receive correspondence
regarding the paper. Papers submitted should be in MS Word or PDF files.

sent in January 2010.
The site for the 9th conference is Bogotá, Colombia, and it will be
hosted by La Sabana University. The biennial conference brings together
scholars worldwide to reflect on contemporary issues in the economics
and management of media industries and firms. Established in 1994, the
conference has previously been held in Stockholm (Sweden), Zurich
(Switzerland), London (UK), Pamplona (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal), Turku
(Finland), and Montreal (Canada), and Beijing (China).

Some participants have inquired about personal safety in Bogotá and
Colombia. Security has improved in Colombia in recent years and
conference guests should encounter no significant threats. Major
Columbian cities, including Bogota and Cartagena, are hospitable for
tourists, however, common crime requires precautions normally taken in
major metropolitan cities worldwide, especially late at night. The
conference and its social activities are well planned and travel between
meetings, social sites, and the conference hotel will be in safe
chartered transportation. The most noteworthy threats to tourists
involve travel away from Bogotá in rural areas and small towns. Should
conference participants stay after the conference for additional
sightseeing, it is suggested that visitors travel to and between major
cities by air, avoiding bus transportation or travel by road at night,
and engage the services of reputable tourism agencies and services.
