Irish Media Research Network
Postgraduate research conference November 09
Dublin City University, Thursday 12 November 2009
This year's IMRN event takes the form of a postgraduate conference for
PhD and Masters research students working on topics in media research at
Irish higher education institutions or on Irish media topics in higher
education institutions outside Ireland.
The one-day conference at Dublin City University is an opportunity for
postgraduate researchers to report on work in progress, share ideas and
experiences with their peers, and consider comments and questions from
established researchers.
IMRN invites expressions of interest from postgraduate media researchers
to participate in this conference. For this purpose, media research
includes studies of media ('old' and 'new', fiction and factual)
content, professional practices, business models, audience reception,
history, regulation, policy, etc. Expressions of interest should
include: a 200-word summary of the project; projected completion date;
supervisor(s); institutional affiliation; researcher contact details.
On the basis of these submissions an IMRN review group will propose a
programme of thematic panels and will ensure that experienced
researchers with relevant subject expertise are in attendance for these
panels.
The one-day conference will also include a round table on the current
challenges for Irish media research and the opportunities to improve the
profile for such research in the higher education system.
Expressions of interest from postgraduate researchers should be sent by
12 September 2009 to (brian.trench /at/ dcu.ie)
