CINEMA IN THE DIGITAL AGE
One-day symposium presented by the Film Programme, School of
English, Film, Theatre,
and Media Studies, Victoria University of Wellington
Thursday 11th February 2010 (free event)
The symposium will gather scholars and practitioners interested in
the expanded nature
and new potential and possibilities of cinema in the digital
age. The intention will be to
explore theoretical and creative impulses, new questions and
dilemmas, and new modes
and sites of production and reception created by the transformation
of digital film and
cinema. The day will involve presentations by the New Zealand Film
Archive, and Weta
Digital, and there will be a panel session devoted to the 'Digital Woman'.
The keynote speaker for the symposium is Professor Sean Cubitt,
Director of the Media
and Communications Program, the University of Melbourne.
