[ecrea] CFP: Gender and public relations

The editors of the next special issue of PRism invite submissions around the theme of gender and public relations. Awarded the PRism Prize for 2010, the edition will explore the complex gendered aspects of both public relations practice and theorising ? an important topic that will contribute to the maturation of the field. Papers from diverse perspectives and geographical locations which offer a critical approach with an emancipatory quality will be particularly welcomed.

Topics might include (but are not restricted to),

Gender and:

-       identity and identification

-       ageing and sexuality

-       diversity and ethnicity

-       public relations education, and/or graduate experiences

-       research and ethics

-       feminist perspectives and public relations work cultures

-       historical perspectives on industry or occupational developments

-       public relations and social media, including virtual publics

Full papers will be due by May 31st, 2010 and will be peer reviewed. Submissions should be sent to: (prismgenderissue /at/ gmail.com).

Successful submissions will be uploaded immediately reviewing, revisions and formatting are complete.

If you intend to contribute and would like initial comment from the editors, you may forward a 500 word abstract outlining your proposal to the email address above. This should be done well in advance of the submission deadline.

Academic papers should be approx. 5,000 words and practitioner papers between 2,000-3,000 words maximum. Papers submitted for the special issue must not have been published, accepted for publication, or presently be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
