>             This congress is intended to analyze the work of the British 
> film director Peter Greenaway, concerning both cinema and art. He is one 
> of the most important film makers nowadays, as well as one of the 
> philosophical reformers of cinema, a draughtsman, a painter, a 
> writer,   a critic and  a organizer of exhibitions.

>             The beginning of his artistic career is still implicit in his 
> films: painting and experimental cinema. One of the multiple influences 
> of painting on his works can bee seen in the fact that the camera usually 
> keeps the viewpoint of a painter before a model, which provides his 
> cinema with certain theatricality. We can point out The Falls, a feature 
> film he shot in 1980 with the British Film Institute´s support, as one of 
> his most interesting works. It presents the imaginary biography of 
> ninety-two people.   In 1982, he reached international success with The 
> Draughtsman Contract, a thrilling, libertine and reflexive film around
