In the current world state, globalization and localization are seen as interlinked processes and this marks a radical change in thinking about change and development. Potentially, it integrates global dependency thinking, world-system theory and local, grassroots, interpretative, participatory theory and research on social change. It could integrate macro- and micro-theory. On the other hand, it also marks the arising of a new range of problems. One of the central problems is that the link between the global and the local is not always made clear.

The debates in the general field of ‘international and intercultural communication’ have shifted and broadened. They have shifted in the sense that they are now focusing on issues related to ‘global culture,’ ‘local culture,’ ‘(post)modernity’ and ‘multiculturalism’ instead of their previous concern with ‘modernization,’ ‘synchronization’ and ‘cultural imperialism.’ With these ‘new’ discussions, the debates have also shifted from an emphasis on homogeneity towards an emphasis on differences.  With this shift towards differences and localities there is also an increased interest in the link between the global and the local and in how the global is perceived in the local.

This series invites manuscripts which address the above changes, either from  global or local perspectives.

HOW should one submit a proposal or manuscript?

1)	 PROPOSAL: 

A proposal should be between 2,500 - 3,000 (max) words or 10 pages in  length. The following information has to be provided:
•	Name and address (regular and email) of the corresponding author or editor.
•	The research topic or focus. 
•	The rationale for this proposal.  An assessment of the contribution to the literature or to social practice.
•	A characterization of the theoretical and methodological framework to be used. 
•	Particular issues/themes to be discussed.
•	Time-frame for the completion of the manuscript.
•	Tentative table of contents with a brief abstract for each chapter (including the full list of authors in case of an edited volume).
•	Short bibliography (indicating primary sources).
•	The intended audience of the book.

2)  MANUSCRIPT: 

A manuscript could be between 200 and 350 pages in length (1.5 line spacing, Ariel font, 12 point style). 
The information requested for proposals has to be included in the accompanying letter.
