Sun Oct 13 13:02:06 GMT 2024
The Ph.D. in Mass Communication program at Ohio University is currently
accepting applications for Fall 2025 admission. The *deadline* for all
applicants (whether they are U.S. citizens/permanent residents or
non-U.S. citizens/permanent residents) is *January 2, 2025*.
The program is jointly administered by the E.W. Scripps School of
Journalism and the School of Media Arts and Studies, within the Scripps
College of Communication. Applicants can choose to apply for either the
Journalism track or Media Arts and Studies track. We offer several areas
of specialization, including critical media studies, data analytics,
international media, journalism studies, media in healthcare contexts,
media law, and strategic communication. Students will have the
opportunity to develop their scholarship through working with faculty,
as well as access to the SMART Data Analytics Lab and state-of-the-art
media technology and production facilities.
Students admitted to the doctoral program are typically appointed to a
graduate assistantship that provides a stipend and tuition waiver, and
select students may be awarded a highly competitive, prestigious Scripps
Howard Teaching Fellowship, which supplements the standard stipend.
Our graduates have become faculty at colleges and universities around
the world, as well as taking research and leadership positions at think
tanks, news organizations, governmental organizations, and non-profits.
