*SICSS-Syracuse (June 11–17, 2023)*

The Computational Social Science Advisory Council recently elected to approve and fund the development of a week-long Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS-Syracuse) in June 2023. The institute will be hosted at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and co-led byMartina Santia <https://newhouse.syr.edu/people/martina-santia>, the Newhouse School’s first postdoctoral scholar, and Jasmina Tacheva <https://ischool.syr.edu/jasmina-tacheva/>, an assistant professor in the School of Information Studies. This is the first time that a summer institute of this kind will take place at Syracuse University. More information about the institute can be found here:https://sicss.io/2023/syracuse/ <https://sicss.io/2023/syracuse/>

*Here is the call for applications:*

Applications for the SICSS-Syracuse (June 11–17) are now open. Master's students, Ph.D. students, and early career scholars in any social science discipline and the humanities are welcome to apply. SICSS-Syracuse seeks to provide*free training*to individuals who may not necessarily have a strong background in computational social science but are committed to addressing pressing social problems through theory-based and data-driven solutions.Priority will be given to applicants from Syracuse University and nearby Central New York institutions, especially applicants from groups currently under-represented in computational social science.

Applicants must submit the following documents: (i) a curriculum vitae, (ii) a statement of interest (maximum two pages) describing your current research, your interest in computational social science, why you want to attend SICSS, and how you (plan to) contribute to social progress and justice through your work, and (iii) one writing sample (no more than 35 pages). To be guaranteed full consideration, all application materials must be submitted by March 3rd, 2023. All application materials must be submitted through this form:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTvF3lhkVD6LJucRBpMPP5GahNabs9KyVGQpPongOuCHJxAQ/viewform <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTvF3lhkVD6LJucRBpMPP5GahNabs9KyVGQpPongOuCHJxAQ/viewform>
