With a strong research focus and an eye on REF 2020, this post seeks student-focussed individuals passionate about education and academic progress to make an excellent teaching and research contribution to the university in the area of Media Production. In particular, expertise in production areas such as studio television, video and post-production, visual effects, photography and multimedia are welcomed. The post enables individuals to grow and develop in their area of expertise in a fully supported vibrant teaching and research environment, with access to funding and development to enable them to progress along a teaching and research trajectory. You will be part of a thriving world leading media school that encompasses 1,700 students and 100 staff, number one in 2014 REF for 4 rated outputs.

The role includes teaching on the undergraduate programme BSc (Hons) Media Production and conducting appropriate high-level research. The role holder must have solid teaching experience at HE level, be familiar with the HE learning and teaching environment, and be fully committed to enhancing the student experience.

The role holder will make a significant contribution to technical and creative teaching and learning and graduate employability. Additionally, they will contribute substantially to the development of the research activity and capacity across the Leicester Media School. Significantly, as a VC2020 Senior Lecturer, 50 per cent of this position will be designated for research and the successful candidate will have existing quantifiable research outputs and/or a solid research plan leading up to REF 2020. The role holder will also play an active part in developing capacity and capability for external income generation and external partnerships.

The role is one of several new academic posts aligned strategically to the Leicester Media School. As well as leading on research, this particular role is designed to:
• deliver core curricula
• develop and enhance industry links
• further enhance graduate employability
• develop innovative cutting edge curricula
• assist in developing an international reputation and enhance international recruitment
The applicant must:
• have excellent technical and creative skills in areas of media production
• be research active and be able to contribute to the support and development of research activity at school level • be fully cognisant of the creative and technical context of creative media employability
