The School of Media, Entertainment, Creative Arts (MECA) in the Creative Industries Faculty is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to make a significant contribution to teaching and research within the Journalism, Media and Communication discipline. The successful candidate for this position will be a highly committed and effective teacher with a flair for research.

Salary Range/Classification: $AUD84 133 to $AUD99 918 pa (Level B)
$AUD103 068 to $AUD118 859 pa (Level C)
Plus Superannuation: 17% employer contribution

Appointment will be made at Level B or Level C depending on qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Applicants should nominate the level for which they are applying and address the selection criteria for the nominated level. The University reserves the right to appoint at either classification level.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

QUT is one of Australia’s leading centres for journalism, media and communications research (ERA 4 in Journalism; 5 in Media & Communication), and offers high quality Bachelor programs in Journalism and in Media & Communication. The latter is offered both at QUT and as a transnational program in Hong Kong, in partnership with the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The discipline supports a large number of higher degree research students, and staff are engaged heavily in externally funded research activity.

Position Purpose

The successful appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching, postgraduate supervision and research in the media and communications and journalism studies areas, as well as associated administration and management tasks such as co-ordination of the transnational program. The successful candidate will have a record of achievement in media-related research of national and international standard, and scholarly expertise in internet and digital media studies or related areas.
