Two Doctoral students in Media and Communication studies with a profile 
in Critical Discourse Studies



Candidates are invited to submit their applications for research studies 
in media and communication studies at Örebro University, Sweden. The 
starting date of the programme is in the autumn 2014.



We are now looking to recruit two doctoral students in the field of 
critical discourse studies. Located within the thriving research 
environment of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences 
(HumES), the Department of Media and Communication Studies is one of the 
world’s leading centres in critical discourse studies. In order to 
strengthen our research environment, proposed projects should be 
empirically driven and offer new ways of understanding the role of 
language and communication in contemporary society, politics, media and 
culture. They should be based on a detailed, critical-linguistic 
analysis of media and communication and candidates should be prepared to 
relate these to the dynamics of social contexts such as sites of 
production and reception of discourse.
