Introduction

The School of
Communications
in Dublin City University is
Ireland’s leading school of communications
studies and is now
making a
number of
new
Lecturer
appointment
s from 1 September 201
4
.
The
S
chool has particular needs in the following areas
-
audio/radio production
,
broadcasting, digital
communications
, mult
imedia and journalism,
data visualization, graphic art design; animation and
information design
, and that will be a factor in short
-
listing and final selection
. We are interested in
hearing from experienced applicants who
can teach across undergraduate and
postgraduate media
courses
.
The School of Communications:
The School of Communications has three undergraduate programmes, six taught postgraduate
programmes and a PhD programme.
The successful candidates will be expected to play a role in the
development and delivery of the
School’s taught programmes and in the identification and delivery of
new programmes in their specialist area.
The school offers excellent opportunities for can
didates to
teach within their own area of research specialisation and to supervise PhD candidates. The school is committed to high quality research and supports its staff in such work. The school has
led research programmes funded by the Irish Researc
h Council, the EU and other national and
international donors.

motivated, flexible and adaptable in working across different areas of specialism

Applicants
for the post
must
hold an honours degree in a relevant discipline, should be qualified to a
post
-
graduate level and have complet
ed a Doctoral qualification in the field. The successful
candidates will also have a minimum of three years relevant experience
, with a record of high quality
university
-
level teaching
. In addition, they should have a proven research background in the area
.
They will be committed to publish in the highest quality peer
-
reviewed
journals and/ or with high
quality book publishers and to securing external research funding supports.
The successful candidate
will be expected to contribute significantly to curricu
lum development, teaching and administrative
activity in the School of Communications, across all levels and a variety of programmes.
