Tue Oct 29 09:55:55 GMT 2013

I thought the following information might be of interest to you and your students, especially if you have somebody who would like to obtain a doctoral degree at a leading US university.

The Media and Information Studies PhD program at Michigan State University seeks engaged students who wish to join an exciting interdisciplinary program of study at the intersection of the social sciences and socio technical systems. For 2014-15 we have openings for several students across a range of research areas covered by our diverse faculty:

· Social media and social computing

· Human-computer interaction

· Management information systems

· Games and meaningful play

· Health and ICT

· ICT4D

· Media effects

· Media and information policy

· Socio technical systems

Applications are competitive. Over 90 percent of our current students are supported for up to four years by teaching and research assistantships with monthly stipends (about $2,000 per month), tuition remission (nine free credits per semester), and health benefits. Fellowships and stipends for travel to academic conferences are also available.

Deadline to be considered for assistantships is January 1, 2014. However, we will begin reviewing applications on December 1, 2013 and continue to review them through early February 2014.
