TRADERS: open call for early-stage researchers (6 positions)

Are you interested in joining an enthusiastic, international and interdisciplinary team of art and design researchers? And are you willing to conduct thought-provoking research in a participatory context?

'TRADERS - Training art and design researchers in participation for public space' is an FP-7, Seventh Framework Programme/Marie Curie Actions (http://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/about-mca/actions/itn/) project that focuses on developing and testing a methodological framework on which art and design (A&D) researchers can rely when working on public space projects in participatory ways. This framework is transferable and aims to enhance the potentials in A&D practices to contribute creatively in processes of changes in public space and branches related to the public space, such as mobility or health. ‘TRADERS’ is a network of 6 hosting Partner Institutions (and 5 (SME) Associate Partner Institutions): Faculty of the Arts, LUCA/Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg (Belgium, www.mad-fac.be), University of Gothenburg (Sweden, http://www.gu.se/), Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands, http://www.designacademy.nl/), The Royal College of Art, School of Architecture, (United Kingdom, http://www.rca.ac.uk), Chalmers University of Technology, Department of Architecture (Sweden, http://www.chalmers.se/) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium, http://www.kuleuven.be/).

The project offers 6 positions for enthusiastic, early stage researchers (ESRs, meaning that - at the time of recruitment - a doctorate degree has not yet been awarded and the researcher is in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of his/her research career), who are willing to team up with international, interdisciplinary fellow-researchers to conduct art & design research in a participatory context. The researchers will be involved in the project for a duration of 36 months (full-time equivalent), starting on 1st February 2014. The research fields that are particularly relevant to this call are: Art, Design, Architecture, Sociology and Anthropology.
