About ICMC

MICA is pioneering an Annual Conference series on themes and issues in Communication Management beginning in 2014. The conference series is intended to provide a platform for bringing together scholars, activists and practitioners to discuss frontier developments in communications theory and practice. While the annual conferences will announce particular thematic outlines inviting scholarly contributions around the focal theme, papers conceptualizing perennial and emerging issues in communications management would also be included. The idea takes into cognizance the significance of multiple linkages of interdisciplinary and critical scholarship in communication management.

Call for Papers

It is with the aim of furthering holistic health that MICA is organizing the first International Communication Management Conference in February 2014 based on the theme “Managing Health Communication: People, Programmes, and Products. Papers are invited that examine health communication in terms of messages and contexts relating to programmes, people, and products.

Some of the sub-themes around which papers maybe organized (but not limited to these) are:

Programmes:

Information and programme delivery, Health safety, Positive Deviance, Surrogacy, Capacity building and Utilization support

People:

Patients, providers, policy makers, artistes

Products:

Pharmaceutical, vitamins, fitness centers

Papers dealing with important theoretical and methodological issues, and critiques and interpretations of various theories and policies, are also welcomed. Submissions are subject to a peer review process. We plan multiple forms of disseminating knowledge from the conference - accepted papers will become a part of the conference proceedings; papers can be submitted to a special issue of Journal of Creative Communications; and we plan audio-visual presentations of key ideas. Apart from paper presentations, a call is made for proposals for round-table discussions and parallel panel discussions, to increase the level of interactivity that the conference facilitates.

Paper proposals should include the title, an abstract (max 500 words) and a brief biographical note (max 250 words).
