The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication seeks to fill two positions in the area of contemporary media:

Assistant Professor (tenure-track). The department invites applications for a beginning assistant professor for appointment effective September 1, 2014. We are seeking to fill a position in the area of contemporary media and are open to candidates from a wide range of sub-areas and methodological perspectives. The successful candidate will extend existing strengths within the department, specializing in an area such as Internet policy and governance; media and design; digital labor; media and race, class, gender, or sexuality; mobile media and culture. A demonstrated commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching is required. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising, departmental and university service. Qualified candidates should have a PhD and an active agenda of research, publication, and teaching. Associate Professor (tenured or tenure-track). The department also invites applications/nominations for a new senior appointment to begin September 1, 2014. We seek a scholar with an established reputation and leadership potential, who can enhance strengths within the department, most especially in regard to the crucial and expanding field of digital media studies and/or the intersections of media studies with science and technology studies. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising, departmental and university service. Qualified candidates should have a PhD and an active agenda of research, publication, and teaching.
