CYFRWNG 2010 CONFERENCE

Trinity University College, Carmarthen
6 - 7 May 2010

CALL FOR PAPERS
www.cyfrwng.com

?VOICES?

The annual Cyfrwng conference is an opportunity for academics, students and media practitioners to deliberate key issues relating to the media in Wales. Cyfrwng 2010 is hosted by Trinity University College Carmarthen, and a call for papers is herewith distributed.

?Voices? has been chosen as the generic theme for the 2010 event, providing a platform for the following fields of study: Film, Television, Radio, Journalism, New Media and Theatre and Performance. Individual papers, keynote lectures and round-table discussions are to be scheduled, with the names of keynote speakers being announced in the near future.

Papers discussing any aspect of the conference theme are welcomed, including historical, theoretical, analytical, practical or policy-making discussions. The theme clearly offers a variety of interpretations, for example: new voices, the individual voice, voices of the unheard, alternative voices, technology and the voice, voice and plurality, or voices from the past. Other subject areas may also be combined with that of the study of media in Wales such as politics, history, economics, languages, music etc.

In addition to papers reflecting upon the main theme of the conference, we would welcome suggestions for supplementary sessions looking specifically at the role of media production within academia. Sessions could include academic papers, round-table discussions, workshops or screenings of creative work. Papers drawing comparisons between Wales and other nations will be welcomed, and, whilst the emphasis of the conference is on Wales, wider contexts of the UK and further afield will not be disregarded.

Papers should not be more than 20 minutes in length. Please send an abstract of between 200-300 words together with a short biography to the address below before 31 January 2010.

Successful applicants will be notified before the end of February 2010.

Please send the abstracts to:
