The University of Arkansas' Department of Communication is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor with research and teachings interests in one or more of the following areas: (1) film studies (not production); (2) political/legal communication; and/or (3) race, ethnicity and class. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Communication, demonstrated competency in the classroom, and evidence of an active research program.


The Department is seeking a scholar who will engage students and colleagues while producing a challenging research program. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Communication and be able to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in their interest areas. Scholars with a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches are welcome to apply.

The University of Arkansas Department of Communication seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor to begin August 2010 with specializations in one or more of the following areas: (1) film studies (not production); (2) political/legal communication; and/or (3) race, ethnicity and class. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Communication, demonstrated competency in the classroom, and evidence of an active research program.


The University of Arkansas is the flagship, land-grant institution in our state. Our residential campus is located in one of the five fastest growing areas in the U.S. Half a million people reside in a metro area containing an extensive medical community and the international headquarters of four Fortune 500 companies.


Ours is one of 19 departments in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. We currently serve approximately 450 B.A. and 40 M.A. students. Faculty members are expected to publish regularly, teach required courses as well as those in their specialty areas, engage in service activities, and advise both graduate and undergraduate majors. Professors in our department typically teach two classes per semester.
