Professor and Director, Centre for Cultural Research (CCR), University of Western Sydney

The Centre for Cultural Research at UWS conducts interdisciplinary and collaborative research that addresses the cultural challenges and contradictions of an increasingly globalised, heterogeneous and technologically mediated world. The Centre is committed to forging partnerships for cultural research and development with a broad range of organisations and communities in Western Sydney, as well as nationally and internationally. Research at the Centre is organised around an integrative research program and four interrelated thematic research programs. The integrative program is titled Knowledge Practices: Theory, Method, Engagement. The thematic programs are: Intercultural Dialogue; Institutions, Governance, Conduct; Economy, Labour, Globalisation; and Culture, Nature, Environments. Further information about the Centre's research agenda can be obtained by writing to the CCR Executive Officer, Maree O'Neill, at (m.oneill /at/ uws.edu.au).

The Professor will be a highly productive researcher of international standing who will take on a leadership role in the development of the Centre's research profile, performance and reputation through competitive grant applications, publications and attraction of research students to the Centre. Applicants will be expected to have a distinguished career in the broad field of cultural research with a demonstrated ability to work across different approaches and subfields. The appointee will lead the Centre's integrative program and should have a developed track record in methodologically innovative research that tests conceptual boundaries and confronts the challenges of interdisciplinarity.

The appointment to the position of Director is, initially, for a period of 5 years and reports to Executive Dean of the College. The successful applicant will also have a substantive, ongoing position as Professor.
