[ecrea] Global Poverty and the Media - Call for authors

Tue Jul 07 15:07:59 GMT 2009

The publisher Peter Lang is seeking an author or editor for a new volume on Poverty and the Media in the Global Crises and the Media series. As series editor, and following a recent successful call for authors for a volume on global pandemics and the media, I would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels they have the expertise to put together a cutting edge monograph or edited collection reflecting on the permanent emergency of global poverty and contemporary media.

It is hoped that the author(s) or editor(s) will situate poverty in global context, examine media roles, representations and responsibilities and theorize the mechanisms and meanings involved in this interaction as well as possible impacts on publics and policy making. Ideally the book will draw on recent research findings and positions of theory as appropriate and aim to provide a structured sequence of chapters written in an accessible and authoritative style.

If you would like to discuss your ideas for this volume I'd be very pleased to hear from you.

(apologies for cross-posting)

Thank you,
