[ecrea] new internet course - GLOBAL MEDIA SYSTEMS AND TRENDS

A internet based course for credit or non- credit is being offered by the University of Missouri St.Louis this Fall. The 16 week course is on the topic of GLOBAL MEDIA SYSTEMS AND TRENDS. It covers transnational media conglomerates and their impact on culture, language, and society. UNESCO, CNN, BBC, Euronews,WSIS, ICANN, Al Jazeera, and the internet are discussed in detail. The textbook is Global Communication: Theories, Stakeholders, and Trends (Blackwell Publishers) by Tom McPhail who also teaches the course. There is a series of 1 hour weekly video lectures by McPhail plus a series of web based activities. Students from anywhere in the world--with internet access-- may enroll.
