Two Positions in Journalism Studies / New Media at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands

Excellent research assessments and growing student numbers enable the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Arts and the Groningen Center for Journalism Studies to hire:

- a Postdoc Researcher in Journalism Studies / New Media

and

- a Lecturer in Journalism Studies / New Media

The University of Groningen's Journalism Department provides a high quality, one and a half year Master in Journalism, which includes newspaper, radio and television journalism. Its curriculum has a strong focus on cross-mediality and convergence. Half of the program is devoted to academic courses in Journalism Studies, like theory and history of journalism, political communication, and research classes. The other half is devoted to teaching journalism skills in a well equipped multi media newsroom. Each year 45 students are admitted to the MA program after a severe selection procedure. The departmentâ??s Minor program provides courses like journalism and new media, introduction journalism studies, and media history to about 150 undergraduate students. The staff of the Journalism Department carries out research in the fields of Journalism Studies, Journalism and New Media, Media History and Theory. Research activities are organised in the Groningen Center for Journalism Studies and the Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture.
