Broadening horizons:
CLEANING UP: ENVIRONMENT AND BALTIC CO-OPERATION IN AN ENLARGED EUROPE
Brussels, Riga, December, 2-6, 2002

Organised by the European Journalism Centre, Maastricht
With the support of the European Commission's DG Enlargement

Journalists from the Member States need to know more about the
current policy debates in the EU and in the Candidate Countries
during the enlargement process. The European Journalism Centre
in Maastricht, in co-operation with the European Commission's
DG Enlargement, has designed a four-day programme to familiarise
EU journalists with Enlargement policies in the Candidate Countries.

The environmental problems in the Baltic Sea will be the central
theme of this seminar organised in Brussels and Riga. The seminar
will focus on the efforts of Latvia and the EU in dealing with
this issue and the role of Russia towards these concerns.
The course consists of a one-day briefing in Brussels and
three days in the candidate country.

This seminar is principally for journalists from Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany Ireland and Spain however applications from other EU Member States'
journalists who express a special interest will also be welcomed.
