JOURNALISM TRAINING
-------------------
REPORTING CROSS-BORDER BUSINESS:
small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe, Maastricht
May 5-7, 2002
Organised by the European Journalism Centre, Mastricht
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) are high on the
political agenda in Europe and the fate of medium-sized
companies is of crucial importance to local economies and labour
markets. Participants will be able to discuss successes and
failures of European policy with Karl Georg Doutlik, SME adviser
at the European Commission and they will be able to test the
Cordis database, an on-line research tool for journalists who want
to check up on economic and innovation developments across
Europe. Other speakers include Rob van der Horst, Director of the
European Network for SME Research who will give an overview on
what strategies SMEs have adopted for co-operation at cross-border level.
