30. USA - Government rebuilds Net image (Reuters)
The U.S. government got an online facelift as Vice President Dick
Cheney unveiled an updated government Web site that encourages
citizens to do everything from pay taxes to book campgrounds over the
Internet. The redesigned site ropes together 35 million federal Web
pages, along with state and local government sites, to provide an
array of services and information.

31. Virgin Mobile launches 'safe text guide' (Ananova)
Virgin Mobile is launching a safety guide to help text messagers
avoid hand and finger injuries. Its 'How to Practice Safe Text'
campaign has been developed with the help of medical experts. Tips
include doing regular 'textercises', such as shoulder shrugs, finger
spreads and neck muscle stretches.

32. Vatican City - Roman Catholic view of the Internet (Wired)
Demonstrating its understanding of communications in the new
millennium, the Vatican set out its "Catholic view of the Internet"
in an effort to bring "moral wisdom" to what it considers a
"marvelous technological instrument" in a document called Ethics in

33. UK - BT halves price of fast Internet access (Reuters)
Dominant fixed-line operator BT Group will slash monthly wholesale
prices for fast Internet access. BT plans to have one million
broadband connections running over its network by the middle of 2003,
which would help pull the UK off the bottom of the broadband table
among the Group of Seven wealthy nations. BT joins battle for fast

began in earnest when BT's announcement of sharp wholesale price cuts

A French criminal court will try Internet giant Yahoo and its former
chief executive for allegedly condoning war crimes by allowing the

38. TV, movies, and kids' behavior (Christian Science Monitor)
Children and early teens who see R-rated movies are much more likely
to smoke and drink than those who don't, says Relation between
Parental Restrictions on Movies and Adolescent Use of Tobacco and
Alcohol in the medical journal Effective Clinical Practice. The
Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University
in New York found 31 percent of high school students binge drink at
least once a month. It blamed the entertainment industry for
glamorizing alcohol use while rarely showing its ill effects. The
report urges legislators to ban all alcohol ads, including beer ads,
from television.
