continue

Le conseil de la concurrence ordonne que tous les fournisseurs

3. UK - BBC websites distort market say rivals (Guardian)
Media groups have renewed their attack on the BBC's online 
activities, which they say are distorting the market for commercial 
sites operating in areas such as motoring, sport and pop music. The 
British internet publishers alliance - formed to protect the internet
interests of media groups including Trinity Mirror, News 
International, Associated Newspapers and the Guardian Media Group - 
has written to the BBC chairman, Gavyn Davies, to complain that the 
BBC's online operations are crowding competitors out of the market.

4. USA - Ashcroft Defends FTC-Justice Merger Review Plan

6. USA - Microsoft, Justice Dept. Alter Antitrust
Settlement Plan

The U.S. Justice Department and Microsoft announced important 
changes to their antitrust settlement in response to criticism that 
the deal was riddled with legal loopholes. The most significant 
change came from the deletion of a clause that critics said would 
allow Microsoft to gain access to the patented technologies of rival

7. Belgium - Dutroux trial papers available on internet
(Guardian) 
One of Europe's most controversial investigative journalists has 
fallen foul of Belgian officials who have issued an international 
arrest warrant against him alleging theft of sensitive pre-trial 
documents. A Brussels judge claims that Jean Nicolas, a 
Luxembourgeois, stole a 1,300-page dossier on the paedophile Marc 
Dutroux, which was drawn up by an investigating magistrate in 
preparation for a future trial. Nicolas is offering the offending 
dossier on his website for the price of EUR30.

8. España - Año y medio de cárcel para un joven que
difundía 
pornografía infantil por Internet (Europa Press) 
Un juzgado de Barcelona ha condenado a un año y medio de cárcel a un
joven de 24 años conocido como 'Tío Willy' por difundir pornografía 
infantil en Internet a través de una cuenta de correo electrónico de
la Conselleria de Agricultura de la Generalitat. El tribunal le ha 
condenado por un delito relativo a la prostitución y a la corrupción
de menores.

9. Kanada will Privatkampf gegen Kinderpornografie im Netz
beenden 
(Heise) 
Im Kampf gegen Kinderpornografie hat die kanadische Regierung eine 
nicht unproblematische Gesetzesnovellierung vorgeschlagen, die 
inzwischen das Parlament passiert hat und nur noch eine dritte Lesung
im Senat benötigt, um wirksam zu werden. Nach den Veränderungen des 
Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2001 würde es auch für Privatpersonen und
Organisationen heikel werden, Kinderpornografie im Netz aufzuspüren 
und diese den Behörden zu melden. Nicht nur der Besitz, die 
Übertragung im Internet und das Produzieren von kinderpornografischem
Material wird dann strafbar sein, sondern auch das Aufspüren 
verdächtiger Sites und das Weiterleiten von entsprechenden Hinweisen
an die Sicherheitsbehörden. Verboten -- und mit einer Strafe bis zu 
fünf Jahren belegt -- ist auch der Zugriff auf Websites, wenn der 
Internetbenutzer "weiß", dass er über diesen Zugriff 
Kinderpornografie sehen wird.

10. Sweden - Battling paedophilia (Guardian) 
The Swedish National Criminal Intelligence Service has a library of 
300,000 hardcore child pornography images seized from computers and 
websites around the world. The library started life during Project 
Cathedral, a 1998 joint effort between 12 countries to tackle 
internet child pornography, and has been growing since.

11. UK - Police use UV marking to fight mobile theft
(ZDNet UK) 
London police are fighting back against mobile phone thieves by 
using ultraviolet marker pens to label thousands of handsets. Police
officers are also urging mobile users to record their IMEI 
(International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers. Each phone has a 
unique IMEI number, and mobile operators can use this information to
prevent a stolen handset working on their networks.

13. UN - Internet aids narcotics trade (BBC) 
The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) says in its 2001 
report that illegal drugs are being sold over the internet, often 
with the aid of private chat rooms protected from law enforcers. Drug
dealers using the internet are often evading capture because of the 
failure by some countries to adopt laws on cyber crime, the report 
says.

A leader of an Internet piracy group that authorities say was 
responsible for billions of dollars in lost sales pleaded guilty to
