[eccr] European broadband demand to rocket

PST Broadband subscriptions in Western Europe will grow more than seven
times by 2008. At the end of 2001 there were 3.8m subscribers to
broadband in Western Europe, but the number will climb to 28.1m by 2008,
according to research from consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, quoted by
Vnunet.com. 

But more competition is needed between telephone operators to drive
broadband technology, Frost & Sullivan said. The analyst predicted
telecommuting would boom in 2003, when the worldwide telecoms slump
would ease, and the need for broadband would pick up.
