The Chinese political narrative / Le Récit politique chinois, in French
par Olivier Arifon, L’Harmattan éditions, Coll. communication et
civilisation, 2021 - ISBN 9782343235028.
Description
Chinese political narrative
What is the political narrative of China? What arguments does this
country develop? What stories does China say to convince Europe of its
model and its power, considered as essential in her opinion? In all
cultures, the stories developed by literature, cinema or through
politics feed our imaginations, cultural productions and electoral
processes. In the 21st century, States know that influence and
communication require the setting up of a narrative, embodied by
arguments on themes or geographical spaces.
Soft power, the attractiveness of a culture and values, the Belt and
Road initiative in the Balkans and public diplomacy in Brussels are
examples of this narrative directed towards Europe.
By exploring international indexes, reflections of the realities of
countries, European or Chinese newspapers or public diplomacy, this book
shows the lines of the speech of the Chinese government and the model
that accompanies it. He compares with that of Europe for a journey
between the words of China and those of Europe.
Finally, this book places itself at a shift of perceptions, political
positions and communication between the Chinese government and Europe,
and more broadly with the rest of the world.
