[Commlist] Experimental Fiction Film Conference

Fri May 22 11:34:47 GMT 2026

The fourth International Network of Experimental Fiction Filmmaking (INEFF) Conference will take place at the University of Salford on 18–19 June 2026, bringing together filmmakers, artists, researchers, and industry practitioners exploring the creative possibilities and boundaries of experimental fiction filmmaking. The conference invites critical and practice-based engagement with emerging forms of cinematic storytelling, including expanded cinema, speculative narrative, immersive and interactive media, experimental production methodologies, and new technological approaches to audio-visual communication. INEFF provides an interdisciplinary space for dialogue between theory and practice, encouraging conversations around how fiction filmmaking continues to evolve within rapidly changing technological, philosophical, and cultural contexts. The conference is free to attend. The 2026 Experimental Fiction Film Festival will take place at Cultplex, Manchester, on 20 June 2026, showcasing innovative international work that challenges conventional narrative and stylistic norms through formal, methodological, and technological experimentation. Researchers and practitioners interested in experimental cinema, expanded screen practices, immersive storytelling, artistic research, film-philosophy, and contemporary moving image culture are warmly encouraged to participate. You can see the full conference and festival programme, and register for the conference at https://www.ineff.org
